Though she was never crowned in the form of an "American Idol" the title, Kellie Pickler was one of the show's best alumni. Kellie Pickler was born on 28 June 1986 to Cynthia Morton Pickler and Clyde Raymond Pickler at Stanly Memorial Hospital Albemarle. The couple had her mother who was 16 years old. It was a difficult childhood for Pickler as her father was addicted to alcohol and drugs and her mother had left her at the age of 2. Morton returned to take custody for a couple of years, but Pickler acknowledged that it was not going well. "I can remember when my mom and I at the kitchen table and I remarked, 'I'd rather God took me off as I'd prefer to not be alive alongside you.' She took an old kitchen knife and put it on the counter. And she then told her: "Here you go." It was the fourth grade. Naturally, I wouldn't take action, but it's done quite a bit of emotional trauma," she said. Pickler, who was then 12-years-old, was handed to her parents after the hearing. Pickler has cited her grandparents as the main influences in life throughout her entire life, was a child of them. Faye Pickler, the grandmother who took care of her, died of lung cancer in the year 2001. His grandfather was able to take care of Pickler. Pickler was a graduate of the North Stanly High School located at New London, North Carolina.
